Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!

So... to some of my readers this may seem trivial, but... LONDON GOT SNOW!!

& the entire city shut down.

No buses. No trains. No taxis.

I needed that 4 hour journey home like a hole in the head!

I'm home now & not budging... so expect lots of updates over the next couple of days!

Hope you're all having a fab time & keeping snuggly warm!

Review - CHI Silk Infusion

Hello my gorgeous geeks, I hope you've all had a fabulous weekend!

I was washing my hair this morning & I realised I've been using the same product for over a year now & I couldn't imagine washing my hair without it. That product is CHI Silk Infusion.

I decided to try this after I had seen it raved about on YT. I had real difficulty finding it at a reasonable price in the UK but I've managed to find a reliable stockist who sells it very cheap, more about that later!

The product itself is an oil & to me it smells quite masculine, I love the smell but it does remind me of a man, am I the only one who thinks this?!

I use it on wet/damp hair before blow drying, You literally need a tiny amount, the size of a 5p is plenty, any more and it will make your hair appear greasy. I comb it through the length of my hair with my fingers & use the excess on my roots. I then go on to style my hair as normal.

This product leaves my hair soft, shiny & manageable. I left my bottle on holiday in the summer & it was a travesty! I didn't think I relied on it that much until I didn't have it, It makes such a difference to my hair. I always make sure I have plenty, just in case I'm a ditz again & leave it somewhere!

I found my bottle on eBay after searching through countless websites & shops. I wanted to try the product before parting with alot of money & this eBay shop allows you to buy a small sample bottle for £1.99! Result! I say it's a sample bottle, but mine lasted for 20 washes, what a bargain!

Sizes/Prices:

CHI Silk Infusion 15ml - £1.99
CHI Silk Infusion 5 x 15ml - £5.99
CHI Silk Infusion 50ml - £7.99
CHI Silk Infusion 300ml - £25.99

Postage within the UK is £1.49 regardless of which product you buy. I have bought 3 items from this seller & they have all arrived with 2-4 days & they have all been in perfect condition.

I thought this post might be helpful for anyone who is looking to try this product but didn't want to spend too much money.

Have you tried any CHI products, If so what did you think?

Review: Urban Decay Naked

I know this palette has been out for some time now & there have been many MANY blog posts about it, but I was late to the party getting the palette & wanted to give my honest opinion about what I think.

I cannot express how much I adore my Urban Decay Naked palette. I have us
ed it pretty much constantly since I purchased it & It's all I reach for when getting ready.

It's so convenient having everything in one palette. When creating a look you have every shade you need without having 5 shadows covering your dresser. When travelling you
have every shade you need, whether it be a day or night time look you are creating.

The palette itself is stunning. It's a brown felt/velvet type material with the word 'NAKED' embezzled in large gold lettering. The palette feels strong and sturdy, certainly not cheaply made. There is a large mirror inside the palette, very handy for travelling or when on the move!

Along with the 12 full size eye shadows you get a mini primer potion
& a double ended eye liner in the shades zero & whiskey. All you need is mascara and you're good to go!

Now for the eye shadows themselves:

As you can see there are 12 beautiful shades ranging from the most neutral to the blackest. Every shadow is heavenly pigmented & there is a nice mix of matt & shimmer eye shadows.

If I had to pick my top 5 shades they would have to be:

  • Sidecar
  • Toasted
  • Smog
  • Creep
  • Gunmetal
Virgin would be in my list too, if it was a top 6, a lovely matt highlight shade.

This palette retails at £27 although I've seen some on eBay going for £35+, extortionate!

I know this palette can be a little hard to find, hence why people can get away for selling it at such a mark up, however my Debenhams had piles of them in a corner, so it's certainly worth checking in store before paying over the odds.

Last word on this product: It's a must have for any make up lover & if you can find it, GRAB IT! You will not be disappointed!

Katy Perry - Purr

Katy Perry's fragance debut hits the shops tomorrow & I for one can't wait to test it out!

The bottle design is 'interesting' to say the least, it obviously matches the name, but i'm not sure if I like it or not!

The Blurb:

'The fragrance is a rich eau de parfum which opens with a fresh citrus accord of peach nectar and forbidden apple to awaken the senses. It develops into a delicate floral bouquet supported by notes of jasmine blossom and pink freesia and dries down into a rich, luxurious scent rich with vanilla orchid and sandalwood.'

I'm popping into town tomorrow so I will test this out & let you all know what I think.

In & Out: #1

I've always loved reading in & out blogs so I've decided to jump on the bandwagon & start doing them occasionally!

So without further ado here is In & Out numero uno!

In:

False Lashes - Autumn & Winter are the seasons to wear false lashes IMO, in the summer they are OTT & too much like hard work. I still don't wear them every day but I think they give the 'wow' factor & make a look complete, perfect for party season!

Winter Wardrobe - I love dressing for winter. Comfy knitwear, scarves, boots & coats. I'm on the look out for a winter coat, a red duffle coat to be precise. I've seen loads but I'm still looking for 'the one.' I love layering & much prefer dressing for winter than summer.

The John Lewis Advert - Bit of a random one but I LOVE this advert! It's make me well up! I also love the song, It's Ellie Goulding - Your Song. I downloaded it & it's on repeat on my iPhone. If you haven't seen it, Youtube it. It's amazing!

Christmas Shopping - I love Christmas shopping! I love the experience, decorated shops, Christmas music & stopping for hot chocolate. I like wrapping presents & making them look pretty, buying presents and seeing people's reactions makes it all worth while. Yay!

Out:

Lack Of Inspiration - As I've mentioned in previous posts nothing has 'grabbed' me for the past month or so in regards to make up or beauty products. Normally when I'm out I see countless things I want to buy & have to narrow it down to only a few products but recently I've been buying very little, good for my bank balance but boring never the less.

Chapped lips - Hate, Hate, HATE! Every winter my lips become chapped & sore, not a pretty sight. I stock up on lip balms & treatments, my all time favourite has to be the original Carmex in the pot, not the tube! What are your favourite lip balms?

Cold Weather - I know, I'm a hypocrite. I love winter but hate cold weather! Is it just me that is annoyed by the fact iPhones/iPods do not work when wearing gloves?! Freezing cold hands are not nice.

So there we have it! I would love to hear about your current ins & outs in the comments below!

Perfume Ramble

So it's 2am & I can't sleep, so naturally, It's time for a perfume ramble!

Every year on NYE my Dad buys me a new perfume, It's a sort of tradition now & one I LOVE!

I have 3 perfumes that I use in circulation, of course I have others but these seem to be the only ones I reach for.

They are:

Left to right: Chanel - Mademoiselle, Viktor Rolf - Flowerbomb, Britney Spears - Fantasy

My all time favourite perfume has to be Chanel - Mademoiselle. It's elegant, sexy & fruity. This is by no means my every day perfume. I like to save it for evenings & special occasions as it's a little too heavy to wear every day, but I fell in love with it the first time I smelt it & I love it just as much today!

I discovered Viktor Rolf Flowerbomb after reading about it on Laura's (lollipop26) blog & I'm so glad I did! The only way to describe this perfume is 'sugar & spice & all things nice!' It's girly, fruity & oriental. If you haven't tested this it is a MUST.

I'm sure you all either own or have owned Britney Spears Fantasy so I won't drone on about it. This is my every day perfume, It's sweet and light enough to not be too over powering & cheap enough to use every day. The only down side to this perfume is... well... the fact it's a Britney Spears perfume!

So.... the whole reason for this blog & the long ramble you have just endured... I NEED YOUR HELP!

As you can see my perfume taste is girly, fruity & sexy and I need your help choosing my NYE perfume!

Please leave suggestions in the comments & I'm going to scribble them all down and have a whiff of them all when I'm next in town.

Thank you for your help & suggestions... let the whiffing commence!

Weekend Haul

Hi my gorgeous geeks! So I haven't picked up much recently, nothing has really 'grabbed' me, but I thought i'd share what I have picked up!

left to right - Umberto Giannini Overnight Beauty Balm , No17 Hide Away Concealer , Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub, No7 Essential Moisture

Black sequin slouch beanie from Acessorize

I've never really been into hats before, I've always thought they don't suit my face but it's been so cold recently I've decided to bite the bullet and try one & it's not too bad!

Black off the shoulder lace top from River Island

I couldn't resist this gorgeous top! It's hard to see in the picture but it has lace all along the top with buttons running down the front. It can be worn either normally or off the shoulder which I think looks best. It has an elasticated bottom which I'm thinking would look lovely tucked into a pencil skirt. I will post pics when get around to wearing it!

Katie Price - You Only Live Once

I know what you're all thinking! I couldn't resist. I own the entire Katie Price autobiography series and it only felt right getting the latest one. I haven't read it yet as I'm already reading a book (I can't read 2 books at once, odd!) but when I do I will make sure I tell you all what I think.

Just an FYI, I will be holding a giveaway next weekend, so be sure to check back then!

Tag: My Makeup Story

So I was browsing Youtube & stumbled across this tag, I couldn't resist doing it! Here goes...

Questions:

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?

I've always been interested in make up from a very young age, my Mum always wore make up & I remember sitting on her lap when I was 4 or 5 and smothering myself in her make up! Luckily I've got slightly better at application since then! I wore minimal make up all throughout school, this literally consisted of blush, mascara and lipgloss! I only really started getting into make up & wearing a full face of make up when I turned 16, a late bloomer by any standards.

2. How did you get into makeup?

As mentioned above my Mum always wore make up when I was younger & like every little girl I wanted to be just like my Mum. My real inspiration has to be seeing celebrities in magazines & on television, this inspired me to start wearing makeup.

3. What are some of your favorite brands?

I like a mixture of drugstore & higher end brands, these include MAC, Nars, Revlon, Benefit, Rimmel, Barry M & Urban Decay.

4. What does makeup mean to you?

Makeup to me means feeling confident & having lots of fun! I don't wear make up every day but when I do it makes me feel better about how I look, It helps to hide flaws and accentuate my features.

5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?

Tough one! How can a make up addict be asked this?! Does this include everything I can put on my face? If so I would have to choose foundation, bronzer, mascara & lipgloss but I hope I never have to choose only 4!

6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?

My favourite think about make up would have to be how creative you can be with it. There are endless possibilities when it comes to makeup, you can do anything from a neutral natural look to a bold and colourful look. I get genuinely excited when I try a new product or look! *make up rehab needed*

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs high end makeup?

I like both high end & drugstore make up. I don't feel that high end mascaras are any better than drugstore mascaras 7 the price difference is sickening. I don't mind spending extra money on foundation because I haven't found a good cheap dupe to high end foundation....yet! I think drugstore products can provide dupes for many high end products and you should certainly shop around before spending alot of money on a high end product.

8. What is one tip of advice you can give to a beginner?

Practice, practice, PRACTICE! Practice makes perfect and you can only get better! Everybody has to start somewhere & even the best make up artists were beginners at some point & so the best advice I can give you is to just keep trying new looks & new techniques 'til you find something that works for you!

9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?

Pencil thin eyebrows! or people that remove their eyebrows completely then draw them on badly! Eyebrows are so important to your face shape & they make such a huge difference!

10. What do you think about the beauty blogging community?

I think it's great. I've been reading blogs & watching Youtube videos for a couple of years now & decided to get in on the action! I've learnt so many great tips & discovered products I otherwise wouldn't have because of blogs & I hope it goes on forever!

Wow, long post! I would love to read your answers to the questions so please leave either a comment or link to a post on your blog.

NOTD: Essie - Angora Cardie

It's official, I LOVE winter nails! This year I'm really loving dark purple shades so I was delighted when I found this gorgeous Essie polish!

It is a lovely dirty maroon shade & I can't imagine this looking bad on anybody. It is opaque in 2 coats and remained chip free for 4 days. Perfect!

What nail shades are you wearing this winter?

Review: Tigi Bed Head - Afterparty

Earlier this week I decided my hair was in need of some serious TCL! After getting a trim & blowdry at my favourite hair salon I decided to have a peek at the hair products, dangerous! Tigi products have always caught my eye with the bright and fun packaging however I'd never bought anything from this brand before. I settled on 2 products (a shampoo & conditioner is one product, right?!?) one of them being this:

How fun is the packaging! I paid £9.00, the RRP is £14.85 , so I got a pretty good deal! The product itself is a white cream but the best thing about it has to be the smell, It's GORRRRRGEOUS! It's girly, fruity & sweet, perfect to make your hair smell fabulous!

After blow drying & styling as normal I add half a pump and rub into my hands before smoothing over my hair, paying attention to the ends. I think any more than half a pump would leave my hair looking greasy, so be careful! This is by no means a miracle product however it does leave my hair smelling lovely, very shiny & fly away free.

Have you tried this product, is so what did you think of it?
